SHORT DESCRIPTION
MOVA Brewery is a story of industrial heritage revival in Dnipro, where an abandoned Soviet-era factory was transformed into a contemporary multifunctional hub with a brewery, restaurant, offices, and a landscaped public realm. The project redefines the post-industrial identity of the city, creating a vibrant destination for the community and a catalyst for the development of an industrial park. The architectural concept balances memory and modernity. The original steel frame and precast reinforced concrete structures were preserved, while local materials such as steel, glass, and wood were applied to emphasize a brutal yet functional aesthetic. Decorative finishes were deliberately avoided in favor of authenticity and durability. Compact building volumes with optimal daylighting and dynamic solar protection ensure energy efficiency, while open layouts allow the space to adapt easily to new functions. Landscape played a crucial role in reconnecting the site to its natural surroundings. Native planting, carefully integrated pedestrian links, and unexpected green interventions softened the industrial setting and shaped an inviting urban atmosphere. The public spaces around MOVA became a point of attraction not only for visitors but also for the city’s wider community. Sustainability is at the core of the project. Among the key technologies are heat pumps, a solar power station, a solid-fuel steam generator for heating and production, as well as heat recovery systems for public spaces and brewing processes, including re-use of pre-heated water. A ventilated façade system and additional insulation exceeding local standards by 30% further reduce energy demand. MOVA demonstrates how a sustainable approach can unite industrial heritage with contemporary technology and ecological responsibility. More than a brewery, it is a cultural and architectural landmark that exemplifies resilience, adaptability, and community-driven transformation in Ukraine’s urban landscape.
